Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use it for?

Two things, mostly. Zipped to the Compact Bed Free it extends the bed to 60 × 120 cm, which is the length that carries a child well past the point where a 90 cm bed stops working. Unzipped and on the floor it is a nap mat or a changing surface - short enough to move around the house one-handed.

How does it work with the Compact Bed Free?

The zip that closes the cover is also the zip that joins the modules. Run it along the short edge of a Compact Bed Free and you get one continuous 60 × 120 cm surface with no ridge in the middle - the two pieces are the same 4 cm depth, so the seam stays level. It joins a Joint Mattress 60x90 the same way, and it fits the Creative Cot Long.

Can I join it to another mattress?

Yes - that is what it is for. There is a zip along the edge, and it takes either a Compact Bed Free or a Joint Mattress 60x90. The idea is that the bed grows sideways as the child does, instead of being replaced.

Which colour should I take?

Melange Gray and Melange Brown are exactly the shades used on the Compact Bed Free, so pieces bought at different times still look like one set. Beyond that it is only taste - the fabric and the build are identical.

How do I wash it?

Unzip the cover and machine wash it in a laundry bag. The filling itself is not washable: air it, and treat marks locally.

Is it firm enough for a newborn?

It is 4 cm of polyester, built as a mattress rather than a soft mat, and it passed Q-TEC testing and a needle inspection. As with any sleeping surface for an infant, use it flat and firm, without extra padding underneath.
